NATIONAL CALL-IN DAY
TO SUPPORT SENATE PASSAGE of S. 714,
THE NATIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMISSION ACT!
On Wednesday, June 23, people from across the country will urge Congress to pass the National Criminal Justice Commission Act. Please join us!
In 2009, Senator Jim Webb (D-Va.) and 15 bipartisan cosponsors introduced the National Criminal Justice Commission Act, S. 714. The bill creates a bipartisan commission to review criminal justice practices, identify effective policies and make recommendations for reform. FAMM believes the commission will find that any comprehensive reform of our criminal justice system must include eliminating mandatory minimum sentencing laws.
The bill made it out of the Senate Judiciary Committee in early 2010. Now we need your help to get it through the entire Senate. That's why we're organizing a "call-in day" to urge Senate leadership to prioritize and pass this important bill!
We hope that you will join us next week by making these important calls!
On Wednesday morning, we'll send out a reminder with phone numbers and talking points.
Thank you --
