Brenda Valencia
At the age of 19, Brenda was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison for drug conspiracy. She drove her aunt to a house where her aunt was involved in a drug deal with a police informant. Brenda was not involved in the drug deal nor did she profit from it. Brenda survived more than 11 years in federal prison, and now shares her story with young prisoners at the Miami-Dade Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Now 33, Brenda has since married, been blessed with 2 children, and has earned her real-estate license. Read more about Brenda in the April 2006 issue of Latina magazine.
