Members pack Detroit church
In advance of the September legislative session and the FAMM Day, Michigan FAMM members packed a church meeting room in July to organize widespread community support for the McConico bills. Laura Sager, national campaign director, urged members to begin an organizing push, reminding them "we have moved the mountain before, and I'm convinced we can do it again, with your help." Members took packets of postcards urging legislators to support the bills. They planned to give them to family, friends, and community leaders and deliver the signed cards to legislators' offices in September.

Laura Sager and Noah Smith, FAMM lobbyist, built support for the McConico package over the summer, anticipating that legislators will schedule the bills for committee hearings early in the fall session. Sager presented the package to both the lawyers and center/right caucuses of legislature, gaining significant support.
